Cancer

Cancer is a leading global health challenge, with over 20 million new cases diagnosed annually - a number expected to rise significantly in the coming decades.

Yet, access to cancer care remains deeply inequitable. While some regions benefit from advanced treatments and early detection, others face barriers such as limited infrastructure, high costs, and long distances to access care, resulting in poorer outcomes.

The George Institute’s Cancer Program is dedicated to addressing these disparities by combining world-class research with global and local partnerships. We focus on delivering innovative, evidence-based solutions that make cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship accessible to all. Through collaboration with governments, healthcare organisations, and international agencies, we aim to close the gaps in cancer care.

Cancer care is a right, not a privilege. Together, we can ensure everyone has the opportunity to fight cancer with the care and support they need.

At The George Institute, we go beyond identifying disparities in cancer care by actively working to remove barriers and create sustainable solutions. Our focus is on understanding the unique challenges faced by underserved communities and addressing the needs of cancer patients through innovative strategies and collaborations. Our Cancer Program strives to:

  • Design tailored solutions to meet community healthcare needs
  • Strengthen healthcare systems for effective cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship
  • Uncover and address barriers to cancer care through focused research
  • Collaborate with experts to implement impactful, evidence-based interventions
  • Advocate for policies that drive equitable access to cancer services
