Context and Role
With world class medical research geared towards helping people overcome non-communicable disease. The George has a terrific story to tell. This role will oversee The George’s digital portfolio, from management and governance of online channels to planning global campaigns to help tell our global research story to engage key online stakeholders, media, decision makers, and to the public, helping to drive impact and improved healthcare for people.
This role will have four main areas of focus:
•Editorial management and operational oversight of TGI corporate websites
•Leading our social media, emailers and any other online marketing outreach
•Leading TGI digital team members and providing digital support to select research leads/teams
•Securing digital partnerships to support our advocacy

This role will report to the Global Director of Communications and Thought Leadership. |
Duties and Key Responsibilities
The role of the Digital Engagement Manager will:
•Oversee The George’s websites, developing a strategic plan to ensure they are up to date, impactful and user friendly.
•Engage with management and research teams to develop effective online campaigns, meaningfully targeted to our varying global and regional audiences.
•Work closely with Communications and IT colleagues to enhance the institution’s overall brand through strategic and on-message content and maximizing SEO.
•Lead social media and online market outreach, to develop and grow engaged communities and conversations to build support for and awareness of our initiatives.
•Prepare a digital engagement strategy and action plans to successfully soft-position TGI on issues and broaden reach through creative online campaigns that draws on a full panoply of new media outreach.
•Lead, coach and mentor colleagues as appropriate on best practices for websites, social media and emailers, by establishing appropriate materials and training
•Advise management and research leads on digital publishing and promotion plans, to support targeted online outreach around their programs, with creation of landing pages, online campaigns, stand-alone websites for example.
•Develop digital partnerships with similar organizations, particularly multilateral organizations, to leverage the reach of others in promoting The George.
•Stay abreast of emerging ways to measure social media impact along the paid/owned/earned framework, and reviewing user research results and determining audience needs; acting on audience.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
•Masters or Bachelors in communications, computer science, digital media or any other relevant field.
•Experience in professional digital communications, preferably in the non-profit or academic sector
•Experience using content management systems such as Drupal and Wordpress to manage websites, with an appropriate skills in HTML, SEO, web design and user experience.
•Experience in managing an organisation’s social media presence
•Knowledge of web and social trends, emerging technologies and the broader digital industry
•High level English writing and speaking skills
