Digital Health and Technology Round Table

We are hosting a Digital Health and Technology Round Table on 30th May at India International Centre, New Delhi with technical support of High Commission of Australia in India.

Why Digital Health and Technology?

India recently launched the National Health Policy 2017 which articulates the need for increasing access, improving quality and lowering the cost of healthcare delivery. Objective 2.4 of the National Health Policy 2017 outlines the steps towards strengthening the health systems and the pivotal role of Health Information Systems in achieving the same. The stated goals include establishment of integrated health information architecture and National Health Information Network by 2025. Under the Hon. Prime Ministers flagship programme of Digital India, establishment of  national digital health authority has been envisaged. The George Institute for Global Health India with its deep expertise in designing, developing, rigorously testing technology enable health delivery solutions and generating a body of evidence that supports the vision of the national digital health framework

What have we done and what are we doing?

At a high level technical consultation held on 8 December 2016, we presented results of a scoping study on the M-health interventions in India supporting the health systems building blocks. Based on the recommendations from the consultation, we have been engaging with key stakeholders in supporting evidence informed decision on Digital Health Initiatives. As a Next step to this conference, we are now organizing this round table to further engage key stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, WHO and key implementing agencies including the Industry partners.

How this will impact Healthcare in India?

  • We are expecting to come out with a working paper on key experiences in digital health as relevant to the proposed National Digital Health Authority for India.
  • We are looking to establish a working group on digital health in the context of health systems strenghtening
