Global survey will reveal investment in neglected disease R&D

On Wednesday 4 February 2009, The George Institute will announce the first-year results of an international survey reviewing global public and private investment into R&D for new products for neglected diseases.

The G-FINDER ‘Global Funding of Innovation for Neglected Disease’ survey will create a clear picture of how and where R&D funds are spent globally on products for diseases of developing countries.

Considering the current economic climate, this information has never before been so urgently needed. Researchers have surveyed 150 funders, reviewed all 30 neglected diseases and all pharmaceutical tools of significance to developing countries, and gathered funding data as consistently and comprehensively as possible to help funders better understand where the gaps lie and how their investments fit into the global picture.
