Health 10x: India Innovation Immersive Experience 2020
NEW DELHI, AUG 25. The George Institute India and the UNSW Founders based at the University of New South Wales in Australia are organizing a three-day virtual intensive health acceleration programme for health start-ups with the common goal of strengthening health services delivery by leveraging technology and innovations to address the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCD).
COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the existing gaps in healthcare systems around the world.
“This is an opportunity to address the gaps through innovations that can transform millions of lives not only in India but globally with innovative models made in India that have potential to be scaled up,” says Oommen John, Senior Research Fellow, George Institute India and the co-ordinator of the intensive health innovations acceleration program, “India Innovation Immersive Experience 2020”.
Leading health innovation experts will participate in the three-day virtual intensive health acceleration programme from August 26 to 28, 2020. This is a sequel to the India Health Innovation Contest 2017 organised by the George Institute for Global Health India as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. The Institute has since then been providing mentorship to the winning teams.
“Early encouragement from the George Institute India really gave us the much-needed fillip to work in the innovation space. The TGI health innovation contest 2017 brought us early recognition and the Institute has been supporting us in different ways on our entrepreneurial journey since then” says Abhay Singhal, Co-Founder of Tick Talk To, a mental health support platform that was selected by IKP-ICO Fund to provide counselling services during COVID-19 pandemic.
Health Innovators would benefit immensely from early engagement with clinicians and healthcare delivery systems and help in the development of an ecosystem that facilitates health innovations in both private and public sector in India aimed to achieve the Sustainable Development Targets, says Prof. Vivekanand Jha, Executive Director, TGI India.
The virtual acceleration programme will provide an opportunity to health innovators and start-ups to validate their assumptions and offerings in the Indian settings. This programme will have teams selected under the Health10x initiative participate with Indian Health Start-ups, opening opportunities for collaboration and partnerships. Accessing TGI’s strong presence in India and established relationships and networks with stakeholders in the healthcare sector, government and health innovation ecosystem, the digital India Market Deep Dive will include expert speakers, virtual tours, an Indian pitch night and a cooking class.
