Research Associate, PhD candidate

Damian is a Research Associate and PhD Candidate in the Food Policy team at The George Institute for Global Health.

His PhD focuses on assessing and improving the healthiness of online retail food environments. He is also engaged in broader research and advocacy to improve policy, regulation and governance in food systems and is keenly interested in the commercial determinants of health.

Before joining The George Institute he worked in various government and non-government health policy and program positions, including with the Australian Department of Health supporting the implementation and evaluation of Australia and New Zealand’s front-of-pack nutrition labelling system. Damian has previously completed a Master of International Public Health and a Bachelor of Economics and Social Sciences (Political Economy), both from the University of Sydney.
