Dr Tamara Young is a UPA supported PhD scholar at the George Institute. She is a dual trained Endocrinologist and General and Acute Care Medicine Physician, and has a strong interest in Nephrology, having undertaken one year of advanced training in nephrology as part of her general medicine training. Therefore her research interest lies at the intersection of endocrinology and nephrology. She has a particular interest in diabetic kidney disease, and altered parameters of bone mineral metabolism in diabetes and chronic kidney disease, and the associated clinical complications of fractures and abnormal calcium deposition that can occur in these disease states.
Tamara continues to work clinically as an endocrinologist and general physician in a variety of settings, including outreach clinics to Bourke and Brewarrina.
She is actively involved or has planned involvement with the following projects at the George Institute: EXTEND-45, BEAT-Calci, CANVAS/CREDENCE, FINESSE, and RESOLVE.
Outside of medicine, Tamara loves music and plays the violin regularly in both the Australian Doctors Orchestra and NSW Doctors Orchestra.”
