Tobacco, Exercise and Diet Messages (TEXT ME)

The popularity of mobile phones and text messaging has inspired the TEXT ME project to utilize this cheap and widely used form of communication to help patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease. The TEXT ME study will examine the possibility, acceptability and effect on the health of patients who are going to hospital for heart angiograms.

These quick and easy texts can help people make beneficial lifestyle changes, such as encouraging someone to go for a walk for 30 minutes or to add an extra cup of vegetables at dinner that day. Over time, these small lifestyle changes can help reduce a person's overall risk of experiencing a heart attack or stroke by using cheap and effective text messages.
