Talk on Coping with Grief with Professor Mahendra Prakash Sharma
The mental health team at the George Institute for Global Health, India the invited guest, Prof Dr. Mahendra Prakash Sharma for a talk on “Coping with Grief”. He is a known name in the field of Clinical Psychology and is a Senior Professor at NIMHANS, Bangalore.
Dr Sharma is the Professor and Head of Behavioural Medicine Unit at the Department of Clinical Psychology at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru. He is the former Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology. He is an expert in cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness based/ integrated cognitive behavioural interventions, psycho-oncology, metacognitive therapy, and stress management.
He has conducted large number of workshops for mental health for professionals from different sectors till date. He has published more than 80 scientific papers, books and presented more than 200 papers in national and international conferences, workshops, and symposia. He has received several awards for his unique contribution of introducing Mindfulness or Vipassana Mediation in the treatment of psychological and medical disorders in India. He is known for the publication of first scientific study on Mindfulness or Vipassana Meditation in the area of mental health in India and integration of the same in the routine clinical practice at NIMHANS.
