Ph.D. MIPH MBBS

Hueiming Liu is a Senior Research Fellow with the Health System Science Program at the George Institute for Global Health.

She has a keen interest in health systems research especially in the delivery of patient-centred, affordable evidence-based care to improve universal health coverage.

She led the process evaluations of two pragmatic trials of complex interventions: examining the use of the cardiovascular polypill in Australian primary health care, and the family-led rehabilitation model of care India. The process evaluations explore trial implementation barriers and facilitators and for whom, how and why the intervention has an impact. Her areas of expertise are in process evaluations, qualitative research and clinical trials, with a special focus on Indigenous and global health priorities.

She obtained her BA (hons) and MBBS, and worked as a medical doctor before completing her Masters in International Public Health in 2008, and embarking on public health research.  She was funded through a NHMRC postgraduate scholarship, and was awarded in Nov 2018 her PhD for a thesis titled ‘Strengthening health systems through the use of process evaluations.’ She is leading the process evaluation stream at The George Institute, and provides guidance regarding the conduct of process evaluations of several institutes' collaborative projects.
